Feed the Bear Counting Set STL | Playtessori

Leaves crunch outside, the air smells of cold rain, and somewhere deep in the forest a bear is very, very hungry. Before he curls up in his den for the long winter sleep, he has to eat. A small hand reaches for a blueberry. Click, it drops into his wide-open mouth. Then an acorn with a 4. Then four apples.

The Feed the Bear Counting Set turns the story of hibernation into a posting and counting game. Children feed the bear through his big open mouth, and when they lift his head, everything he ate is waiting in the den below.

It is a counting game, a nature lesson and a story your child will want to play again and again, all autumn and winter long.

What they practise

• Numbers 0–9 and counting: "feed him the acorn with a 3, then 3 apples"
• One-to-one correspondence and early addition
• Fine motor control: posting, pinching and placing
• Sorting by type and colour: blueberries, apples, acorns
• Nature vocabulary: hibernation, den, what bears eat before winter

What you get

• 3MF/STL files: bear head with an open mouth for feeding
• Round den bowl that sits behind the head and catches the food
• Acorns numbered 0–9
• Number cut-outs 0–9
• Standing bear tray

For makers: a bear set with numbers is a natural bundle for autumn and winter markets, preschool teachers and woodland-themed gifts.
